Geometric patterns are popularly associated with Islamic art, and can be found on surfaces of Islamic architecture. However, modern societies are unable to relate to its culture and history behind Islam’s exquisite patterns. How can we bridge the gap between the past and present in an engaging manner?
We tapped into the beauty of Islam’s geometrical patterns and created an app-based installation that invites users to discover the relationship between geometry and design in Islamic art. The installation allows people to try their hands at creating their own Islamic patterns in a simulated dark room.
